Blàr Dhùn Chaillinn, or the Battle of Dunkeld as it is called in - TopicsExpress

Blàr Dhùn Chaillinn, or the Battle of Dunkeld as it is called in English, was fought on this date, August 21, in 1689. It was the second major battle in the Jacobite uprising, but this time it was Scots loyal to James VII fighting Scots loyal to William of Orange. The Jacobites outnumbered the loyalists nearly four to one but because it was a battle fought inside the city of Dunkeld, they could not bring enough forces to bear at any point to make their advantage decisive. When the day was done the loyalists still held Dunkeld. The number of Jacobites killed was around 300, but since a significant part of Dunkeld burned during the battle, the exact number loyalists killed is unknown.
