BoM Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the Wimmera, North Central (includes Dunolly and Bealiba), North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts - Issued at 10:20 pm EST on Saturday 17 August 2013. Weather Situation An intense low pressure system developing over the Southern Ocean will pass to the south of Tasmania Sunday night with an associated cold front will cross Victoria during Sunday. Damaging winds 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are forecast for parts of the Wimmera, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts for Sunday. Elevated areas are most susceptible. Winds over Alpine areas are likely to experience gusts up to 120km/h during Sunday. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep clear of fallen power lines. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. The next warning will be issued by 5:00 am EST Sunday.
