Boaters, please be sure you are not storing any flammable items in your dock boxes. The photos below are what happens. We were fortunate enough this morning to attend to the fire this morning and put it out in a timely manner and prevent damage to anything but the dock box. Flammable items can be extremely dangerous. Storing these items can put you at risk as well as your neighbors. If we had not caught this fire it could have possibly spread to nearby boats. In addition, should any chemicals have spilled into the marina, you could be facing thousands of dollars in fines and possible criminal prosecution. Please help us protect our marina and your neighbors by disposing of old flammables properly and not storing them in your dock boxes. Boating safety tips can be found here: americanboating.org/clean.asp uscgboating.org/ You also might want to check out many of the free courses held by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, visit: cgaux.org/boatinged/ Another great link is for disposal of used hazardous materials. LA County has several disposal centers. dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/hhw/pdf/HHWSchedule.pdf
