Bob Harlans Somewhat Educated Forecast For The Valley in Yuba-Sutter! Yesterday we saw a high of 57-degrees. Through 5:00 a.m. we have had a quarter-inch of an inch of rain since yesterday afternoon. The main part of this strong winter storm is arriving around 8:00 a.m. this morning bringing high winds and periods of heavy rain throughout the day. Theres a chance for late morning and afternoon thunderstorms. The highest winds...expected to be southerly at 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts possibly exceeding 50 miles-per hour, should peak during the mid-day hours and steadily decrease by early evening. Rainfall in the valley today should range from one-and-a-half-to-three-inches by midnight...with up to five inches or more in some areas of the foothills. Todays high will be 56. Rain will turn to showers this evening and overnight into Friday with winds backing off as well...with showers during the day on Friday. Winds will be light tonight and Friday. Dry Saturday and Sunday...before we see possible light showers on Monday and Tuesday. The snow level will drop to below 5000 feet by tonight...bringing one to three feet of show at higher elevations. Expect significant power outages throughout the valley and foothills today when winds gusts exceed 40 miles per hour today. It is strongly recommended to clean rain gutters and street drains and to secure patio furniture and holiday lawn ornaments.
