Bob Latta has voted over 20 times against clean water including nearly 15 votes to strip the Clean Water Act of 1972 which is the act that was passed after the Cuyahoga River caught on fire. Yet in a recent mailing to people in the district he claimed that his reaction to the water crisis in Toledo was “immediate.” His definition of “immediate” seems to be a little off. Latta apparently claims that two bills for research proposed before the algae bloom cut off the water supply for over 500,000 people counts as “immediate”. Actually, on Sunday during the water crisis you can see a picture of Latta at the Wood County Fair with a milkshake while others representing the district, both Democrats and Republicans were hard at work trying to find solutions. Latta serves on the House Subcommittee for the Environment and Economy so where is his leadership on the issue? What has he done since the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of August 2014, almost 90 days ago? Well, on September 9, 2014, Latta voted for HR 5078 to block a rule that would have required a 3% increase the amount of water covered by the Clean Water Act. On July 31, 2014, the day before the crisis hit those 500,000 people, Latta voted for H.R. 935 to block a rule seeking to bar the direct application of pesticides on water that directly impacts our water supply like the water that flows into Lake Erie. Robert Fry has a plan and announced that plan within the week after the crisis began. Watch this video and decide who should be the voice for District 5. Vote Fry for Five! https://youtube/watch?v=2ENbdftjC3k
