Bob Neumeier, the longtime NBC Sports handicapper and Boston sportscaster, won the inaugural NTRA NHC Charity Challenge Jan. 24, less than three months after suffering serious stroke. The popular Neumeier finished with a final mythical bankroll of $65, besting runner-up Mike Watchmaker of Daily Racing Form, who checked in second with $62.40. Neumeier never led until the last jump, clinching the contest by correctly selecting $13.20 winner Presidentsky in the ninth race at Golden Gate Fields, the days final scoring opportunity.
