#BobbyJasoos : The Local Woman of Mystery (Bye Bye Austin Powers) Making a movie with a title like that definitely takes a lot of guts. So Kudos to the producers, Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha for that. Watching a movie with such a title takes even more guts. So kudos to me and the few other handful of people (I counted six) who stopped by to watch this movie in the theater. And believe me, I needed every amount of courage to not run out of the movie hall midway through the movie. I think the Director, Samar Shaikh, was given strict instructions to make an ONLY Vidya Balan movie. Because, this is exactly what Bobby Jasoos is all about. Its about having Vidya Balan on the screen in each and every scene for the entire 2 and a half-ish hour movie. They must have edited all those scenes which didnt have Vidya in it. That is the only logical solution to the storyline not sticking together. The only other people noticeable in the movie were an ever snarling Arjan Bajwa and the mysterious Kiran Kumar, since they actually managed to get one whole scene for themselves without Balan in it. The story is nothing to write about, frankly, because there is no story. Its all about the heroics of Bobby, the self proclaimed Hyderabadi detective, accent and all, who changes 10 disguises to solve one case. Must say though, the disguises are quite good, so good job makeup wale uncle. Wish the disguises were used as a part of the story than just to show Vidya in various getups. The music is as forgettable as everything else about this movie. The first half of the movie confuses you as to which character is what. Zero character sketches keeps you guessing as to what these people are doing in the movie. The characters are simply picked up at random and thrown in your face leaving you to deal with trying to add up their existence and relation to the plot (HAH!). Maybe that is the main mystery in this movie?? Because other than that, everything is very very predictable. The story keeps jumping from marriage, to Vidya, to marriage breaking quests, to Vidya, to Kiran Kumars quest, to Vidya and half an hour into the second half of the movie (if you have lasted that long) you have stopped caring completely about who does what and why. Noteworthy actors like Supriya Pathak, Tanvi Azmi, Zarina Wahab and Rajendra Gupta have all been completely wasted in the movie, with all of them put together, getting around 15 mins on screen to display their talents. Ali Fazal, perhaps, was taken in the movie because they wanted a Hero and no one was ready to sign a movie where the Hero was nothing but a piece of furniture. He is cute, but he should make better choices about what work he does. The only comic relief, a few forced laughs, are provided by Prasad Barve as Shetty. All in the all, the movie is a complete waste of time. Unless you have a whole lot of money, a whole lot of time and a whole lot of patience of watching a Vidya Balan dominated brain fry fest, you would stay away from this movie. This movie doesnt even hold a candle to Dirty Picture and Kahani, so those expecting something similar to her previous works, would be totally disappointed. Ofcourse, Vidya Balan diehard fans will still enjoy this movie, but I think it would be cheaper and less irritating, for them, to pick up a Bollymag and go through her pictures instead. Oh yes, one good part about the movie. Finally Vidya Balan has lost some weight and is looking good and she acts well too. I only wish that the movie had something more than just HER in it. In a single word, Bobby Jasoos is just BLAND !
