Bogus Police Officials On Monday there were reports of bogus police officers knocking at addresses belonging to elderly people. At approximately 11:30am on Frankton Road, Whitefield two males knocked on the door of an elderly resident and claimed to be police officers. They have asked to check the occupant’s wallet but he refused as they didnt show ID. The males walked off. Later at approximately 12:30pm there was a similar incident at Foster Court, Bury. Two males knocked onto the home of a 92 year old man. One of the males flashed a fake warrant card for the Met Police and said they needed to check the premises. The occupier let them in and one of them searched through the victim’s bedroom while the other ushered the victim into the lounge. The victim then pleaded for them to leave when he realised they were not police officers, which they did. It was later discovered that they had stolen £130 cash and a cheque book. Both males were described as white, in their 30s/40s and were NOT wearing police uniforms. Our enquiries are still ongoing but we are asking our residents to be aware when they have visitors to their address. Our officers will show their warrant cards and identify themselves. They also all have collars numbers which can be checked. If you are in doubt then please call the police.
