Bohola Moy Davitts recorded an excellent 1-09 to 0-06 victory over Islandneady in the final round match of group 3 of the Egans Jewellers Intermediate Championship in a somewhat disappointing encounter played in Foxford last Saturday evening. The hosts it must be said were full value for their victory and indeed the margin could have been much greater if they had availed of all their chances in a game they were in control of. Bohola Moy Davitts got of to a great start when full forward Anthony Jordan scored a lovely point after a fine pass by Jimmy Byrne. They then went on to enjoy a period of dominance where they scored some lovely points and a brilliant goal by lively corner forward Brian Heneghan after Anthony Jordan set him up. Islandneady had to wait until the 22nd minute before they raised a white flag courtesy of Danny McGowan from play but the hosts responded immediately from a converted free by Heneghan. However the visitors finished the half with points from McGowan [free] and Liam Joyce [play] to leave the half time score 1-05 to 0-03 in favour of Bohola Moy Davitts. The second half was an error strewn affair with both sides giving the ball away at regular intervals and they were very few highlights except for a brilliant point from James Mulderrig from out near the sideline and 3 point from play from substitute Conor Byrne. It was still a good team performance with the defence in particular solid and uncompromising and totally dominating their opponents from start to finish. Darragh Ruane once again showed his class with a superb man to man marking job, he defended very intelligently and it was a text book display of good defending. Pat Clarke will be happy his team topped the table and one which bodes well for the future as the Moy men head into a mid summer campaign imbued with real confidence and morale on the back of this superb victory.
