BoilerTV troubleshooting. When you connect your TV to the cable outlet in your room you will need to run the channel set up process in order to view the BoilerTV channels. (If you used your TV at another location your television is used to receiving a different channel line up) To scan for our channels, enter your televisions menu and re-rerun the channel set up or Auto search process. BoilerTV proudly distributes more than 100 channels so if you are receiving some but not all of the BoilerTV channels, you probably need to visit the manufacturers website and update your televisions firmware. (Updating a televisions firmware is very similar to updating the software in a smart phone) Updating your TVs firmware may involve downloading a file from the manufacturers website to a flash drive and then connecting the flash drive to your TV so it can process the update. The manufacturers website and customer support phone numbers are the best source for this information but Youtube is another great resource. As an example, here is a link to Bravias video about how to update their firmware youtu.be/-PPO6abrkhs?list=PL19C96FD220AE708B You can also look at our Frequently Asked Questions page. Heres a link to the BoilerTV FAQ page. housing.purdue.edu/BTV/Faq If youre still having a problem after trying all of the above, you should submit a Fix My Home request and your local facilities department will request that an electronics shop technician contact you to investigate. Heres the Fix My Home website - https://fixmyhome.physfac.purdue.edu Note * The following TV brands are causing viewers some problems this year. Element Westinghouse Sansui RCA (some models) These televisions dont initially work with our network because of the settings installed during manufacturing. The Element TVs, for example, require a code to enable its tuner to recognize the QAM format we distribute through out network. Element TV owners will have to call the manufacturer and get the code or update the TVs firmware, which consists of using a flash drive to download the update from a computer and then inserting the flash drive into the back of the TV to install the upgrade. If we learn about a master code for a particular brand of TV, a post will post it on the website. housing.purdue.edu/btv/
