The opportunity We are looking for a Boilermaker, based at our port operation, Dampier, to perform tasks such as pipe work, structural steel fabrication and repair work on conveyors, stackers and reclaimers. Our port facilities consist of three shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading. Expansion works at Cape Lambert will underpin an expansion of our system capacity to 360 million tonnes per annum. What the role entails This position is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and achieve the key performance indicators as well as meet priorities. Residentially based in Dampier or Karratha (5 days on and 2 days off roster) and reporting to the Supervisor No. 1 Workshop, you will be: Performing fault finding on a variety of fixed plant equipment including crushers, stackers and reclaimers Fabricating and welding fixed plant equipment at the Dampier port Providing maintenance services whilst working as an effective team member in the workshop Setting up and operating hand and machine tools or welding equipment Detecting faulty operation of equipment or defective materials or products and notifying the supervisors Reading and interpreting technical drawings and applying them to the fabrication activities Adhering to the Rio Tinto Safety standards whilst performing duties What you will need for this role To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have: A current manual “C” class driver’s licence A Boilermaker trade certificate Working at Heights, Dogging and Rigging and Forklift tickets Fabrication and Boilermaker experience within the mining industry Your iron ore processing background and working knowledge of SAP will be highly desirable.
