Bokonon: So we don’t talk to anyone, because we can’t? Koheleth: No, of course we talk. Difference doesn’t make communication impossible, and our language can breach tremendous gaps. So reach out to people. Talk to them. Try to find out if you have mutual interests. But understand that however powerful words may be, they have never shown that they could overturn others’ beliefs, least of all through a veil of ignorance and a will of steel. And so you learn to deal with the gulf that remains.
