The movie went on to become a mammoth hit, establishing Rishis star status. Apparently, it was during the shoot of Bobby that he first met Neetu who was working on a different film. Its said that Rishi was quite amused by Neetus child-like personality while the latter was star-struck like most other women in the country at the time! They started off as friends but Rishi secretly also had his eyes on his co-star Dimple! Caught Between Two Women Dimple had made a sensational debut in Bobby. Her skimpy skirts and her innocent act in the film drove men wild. Rishi, old-timers say, was crazy about her and she was equally taken in by him. It is not known whether Dimple knew anything about Neetus importance in Rishis life but the two youngsters enjoyed a brief romance during the making of the film. Incidentally, Raj Kapooor, whom Dimple used to refer to as papa was aware of his sons affections for her but chose not to act. He thought the duo were simply enjoying each others company and would get over it. Papa Disapproves Over time, Rishi developed strong feelings for Dimple and decided to propose to her. However, he first approached his dad for approval and for some strange reason, Raj Kapoor refused. Rishi, who had always worshipped his father, couldnt go against him and decided to end his affair with Dimple. Meanwhile, another man managed to steal Dimples affection– superstar Rajesh Khanna.
