Bolton Wanderers Matchday Preview – Derby County vs Bolton Wanderers Bolton will be looking to pull off a remarkable result today by beating automatic promotion-chasing Derby County at Pride Park tonight, on the back of their 5-1 demolition of Leeds United on Saturday. Derby will have to get a win today to keep their hopes alive of reaching that elusive second spot in the table, following their 1-0 loss at home to Millwall which leaves them eight points off second-placed Burnley. Chris Eagles could miss out with an eye problem, but otherwise there are no new injury concerns for Dougie Freedman’s men – Dougie is likely to field the same side for the third match in a row, despite loanee Alan Hutton being more suited to a full-back role than Tim Ream, who has been operating at left back. Derby’s top goalscorer Chris Martin will be back in the side, following his one match suspension. Jamie Ward & Mason Bennet could also feature for Schteve McClaren’s team. The last time these two side came together was at the Reebok Stadium back in September – that match ended 2-2, meaning the Whites haven’t been beaten in the last five meetings between these sides. Saying that, Derby are unbeaten in the last nine meetings at home between the teams, with Bolton’s last win in Derby coming back in 1981! Derby have scored sixty goals in the league this season, a stat that only league-leaders Leicester City can better. Bolton have scored eleven goals in their last three outings, only conceding once – at the end of the Leeds United match. Dave’s Prediction – 1-1. We haven’t won here in nine attempts and I can’t see that being broken today, despite our fantastic form. We will look to attack from the off, get an early goal and try to sit on it, but with the quality that Derby have got, they can pick off the best of defences. That being said, there is an onus to attack from their side, because they are chasing automatic promotion – meaning they could be left vulnerable at the back and with the way Jutkiewicz and Mason have been smashing them in, you’d back them against anyone. It’s certainly all to play for that’s for sure. The match kicks-off tonight at 7:45pm at Pride Park.
