Bombay High Court on the PIL filed by Arun Digambar - TopicsExpress

Bombay High Court on the PIL filed by Arun Digambar Joshi: "...Moreover, not passing an examination is not an indicator of failure of the child but rather an indicator of inability of the teacher to address the needs of the child. Therefore, the Court also directed the State to take appropriate steps to ensure periodical evaluation of teachers and promote methods to upgrade their teaching skills." Although this talks about elementary education, I believe it is true to quite an extent in high school and college. For students who attend classes and still feel disinterested or are not able to understand a subject, the onus should be on the teacher to make sure that her methods are appropriate. Teaching is a challenging job. Preparing before each class is one of the techniques I have seen tachers adopt to face this challenge. But I doubt if the teaching load at high schools allow them to do so. Thankfully, I have been lucky enough to have had teachers throughout who poured their heart into each class. At school, during graduation and off course during post-graduation.
