Bonjour FRIENDS.. Starting with the quote from Robert T. Kiyosaki that Failure defeats losers but inspires winners and what an inspirational performance it was yesterday against Star Cc. Well done BOYS. :) A great spirited performance that should be always associated with Friends, was on full display is yesterdays games with superb teamwork and excellent discipline in all departments. We have been struggling with our bowling line-n-length in our previous few games. In the last match it was just spot on. Lovely starting spell from Mohsin who claimed the very important wicket of Waheed. A pretty effective short spell from Yasir Butt by getting Ansar out. Brilliant disciplined and tight bowling by Asad by keeping batsmen in check and took two important wickets. Ejaz Yousaf bowled 5 superb tight overs that helped in increasing pressure on batsmen and did not allow them to play shots freely. But the most impressive bowling performance came from none other than our Umar dear. Beautiful line and length kept through out the spell. Never let Star batsmen to cut lose and took 3 crucial wickets along the way. Middle overs is all about tight bowling and Umar just showed us how this should be done. Good job jigar. Batting has always been Friends second best department but it was pleasing to see we showed some great guts while chasing down 220 runs. Yasir Butt once again played a magnificent innings of 49 runs by keeping patience and aggression side by side. Brilliant knock Butt sab. Kamran batting has been improving with every passing day and yesterday another brilliant display of some proper cricketing shots. I am a fan of those late cut shots, something other Friends batsmen should work on. Excellent keeping by Aftab Javed Mirza. Stopping those deliveries behind the leg side is never easy and usually help in saving many runs. Good stuff as always jigar. Agha Jon took some fantastic catches yesterday and kept the pressure on opposition by padding for long time while I was out there. :) The outstanding performance of the day came from Sheheryar Akbar. A century by Sherry baba while chasing the total. What a mature and solid knock it was. The first 50 runs of the innings have probably taken 20 overs of the game and the second half guess took hardly 3 to 4 overs. Great calm and patience showed by Sherry baba and reaped the reward at the end with those classy back-foot and couple of front foot sixes. Easily one of the best innings played by a Friends player while chasing. Cheeta sherry baba. :) Last but not the least, excellent captaincy by chacho Mukhtar Choudry that brought calmness in the side. Good experimentation that helped us in getting breakthroughs keeping things tight. Special thanks to Mansoor Ahmad and Omer Saddiqi by showing up in the ground and supporting us. That meant a lot to us. Lets try to keep the good work going folks by sticking to the lessons learnt in our recent games and try to achieve the standards we really deserve.
