Book #2, #3 & #4 (of 52) done: For Whom The Bell Tolls by Ernest - TopicsExpress

Book #2, #3 & #4 (of 52) done: For Whom The Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway, Firefight by Brandon Sanderson, and Vision & Vow by Pete Grieg. Hemingways novel, about an American dynamite specialist and the local guerrillas he joins to blow up a bridge during the Spanish Civil War, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and is considered a classic by many. Not by me though. I never quite got used to the unnecessarily archaic language-style, the repetitive dialogue, and the odd replacement of swear-words, e.g. I obscenity in the milk (?!) Sandersons Firefight improves on Steelheart and sets the scene well for Calamity (due, 2016)... still nowhere near as good as his Way of Kings series though. And Vision & Vow is a re-read. In two weeks, I and many others will be marking ten years since we took our Mustard Seed Order vows together - re-reading Petes book is a part of my preparations. (And hey, Im ahead of my book-target!)
