Book Review/ Lawerence in Arabia Unfortunatly for me, I had to return this book to the library before I finished it; Bully Pulpit & Heir Apparent wound up next on my reading list, and I had to add a book from a friend as he is releasing a revised edition, and I want to do a podcast interview with him for a future effort of my own. I was really enjoying Lawerence in Arabia, most of what the nation knows about T.E.Lawerence comes from the movie staring Peter OToole, and loosely based on Lawerences autobiography Seven Pillars of Wisdom and drumbeating by Lowell Thomas, then an obscure American Journalist who desparately needed a story to tell..... (Lawerence of Arabia). The movie portrays Lt. Lawerence as an obscure office drawing in the cartographic office in Cario - that much is true, but he in reality he was more. In truth Lt. Lawerence was an acknowledged expert on middle eastern affairs, and a old school Don. Earlier while studing in England, he setup a walking tour of the near east and spent five years working on archelogical sites near Aleppo. He had become fluent in Arabic, knew and was respected by locals and partipated in daily life, and was accepted into arab homes. Whats important about this book, is its not about only T.E.Lawerence (an extrodinary individual), but others in the American sphere, and the Jewish community. Its a pleasant read, well written youll enjoy it, and along the way learn something.
