Book fair diary. Entry 1: Went to the Kolkata Book Fair for 3 days till yesterday; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Observations: (a) all types of people are loving to pose and get themselves photographed in front of the American Library stall, which looks like a beautiful red house in the middle of the fair ground (b) if you buy a biryani, a coke is free in the food section of the fair (c) there is an explosion of chander pahar in the book fair. At least 50 Bengali book publishers have published the book chander pahar; thanks to the film; there was only one publisher having published this classic; suddenly there are at least 50. One can visually feel the presence (d) comicbooks and graphic novel books are getting thicker; there are several comicbook and graphic novel collections that are well over 400 pages and selling like hot samosas (e) the book fair used to be quite silent; it sounds louder this year. The electronic media stalls are playing loud music accompanied by dance by young dancers. People are gathering around these stalls for a glimpse of their fav stars (f) there is no dust; no one is seen covering their nose with their handkerchief this year.
