Book the sofa or set the recorder: this film stars the wonderful Jim Hendry, now 89 years old, and from Balfron. As a young man Jim was a keen amateur cinematographer, and he filmed the entire process of the building of the Forth Road Bridge from 1958 to 1964, and did so beautifully. The film uses Jims remarkable footage to tell the story of the building of the bridge, accompanied by the testimonies of those who did it. And if you miss the BBC showing, come along to the Balfron Heritage Group on 11 September, where Jim and I will talk about the making of the film. No doubt Jim Thomson is even now designing the poster!
