Bookstore Pick of the Week Rania Matar is a US-based Lebanese photographer. Her project a girl and her room links two sides of the planet by entering sacred places in the USA and Lebanon. The sacred places in question are girls bedrooms, and Matars subjects the inhabitants of these rooms. This simple premise, far from being restrictive, allowed Matar to explore a huge range of emotions, expressions, colours and compositions. These are intimate portraits that invite comparison across and within the two countries, as well as curiosity as to what drives, moves and motivates their subjects.
