Boosie got released from prison. Im sure his family was happy to - TopicsExpress

Boosie got released from prison. Im sure his family was happy to have him return. Why wouldnt they be. I personally am not a fan of this guys music, but that is neither here nor there. What I do have a problem with is this. I see a lot of his fans saying that everyone who is not celebrating his release from prison is a hater. If you arent happy about this, then obviously you hate to see another black mans success. I beg to differ. I dont own any Boosie albums but I have heard some of his music. I have found that most of it (as is the case with many rappers) bears misogynistic, violent, and culturally degrading lyrics. Over the last 24 hours, my timeline has been flooded with the joyous proclamations of this mans release from prison. My nigga free!, Baddass back on the streets! The streets have been missing this!. Its almost as if he is that younger brother or cool uncle that is returning from a long bid in the slammer. What exactly is it that the streets are missing that Boosie was providing before he was incarcerated? A glimpse into the mind of the young and misguided? More tales of how one can profit from selling illegal narcotics in an already impoverished neighborhood? Song lyrics glorifying the slaying of other young males and the objectification of womens bodies? I just dont get it. It seems as if the very same things that we rally and protest against when its sensationalized on TV is the same thing that we have been missing in this young mans music. No Im not a hater, I just dont see how this is appealing to the masses. - Random Hip-Hop Fan
