Borders will remain tense till Kashmir resolution: Geelani khan Zahoor* Srinagar, Oct 19: Terming the recent skirmishes in Keran sector as a ‘mere drama’, chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday alleged that these incidents would take place unless Kashmir issue is resolved. “Until the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the people, borders will continue to remain tense,” Geelani said addressing a gathering at his residence where he hosted Eid Milan party. Rejecting Tashkent, Shimla and Lahore declarations, he said people of Kashmir were not a party to these agreements and “consequently we are not bound to accept these agreements”. He reiterated his demand for self- determination and resolutions of Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions. “New Delhi wants to suppress our struggle. We are committed and pledge that we won’t surrender or give up,” Geelani said. “For this purpose people in New Delhi are making excuses. They, on one pretext or the other, are trying to discredit the ongoing movement and make Pakistan accountable at international forum,” Geelani said while referring to Keran operation Geelani said, “It lasted for 15 days and it was stated that 22 out of 40 insurgents, who had invaded and occupied the border village, were killed. However, till today not a single body has been recovered from there.” Referring to the Narendra Modis annointment as BJPs Prime ministerial candidate in 2014 polls, Geelani said “a man responsible for thousands of killings is being projected as candidate for PM. Criticizing the continued detention of Masarat Alam, Mir Hafiz Ullah, Muhammad Shaban Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi and other political leaders, Geelani said: “It is worst form of oppression.” Commenting on the arrest of DFP Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah, Geelani alleged, “Shah was arrested in presence of Omar Abdullah and dragged out of the Hazratbal shrine while offering Eid prayers. It has vindicated our claim that police have resorted to hooliganism.” On chief minister Omar Abdullahs statement at judicial conference, Geelani said: “The grave injustice being done with us is that we are being deprived of right of self-determination.” Referring to the Hajj sermon of Imam Kaaba, Geelani said that he only mentioned the violence committed by individuals or groups and did not make any mention about the excesses perpetrated by the states. “The state terrorism is the main reason for large scale killing of innocents and whosoever is involved in brutal killing of innocents is beyond doubt a criminal,” he added. # wajhama
