Borgers Results August 30, 2014. Borgers PR Media contact Bob Snyder [email protected] Larry Hoagland Clinches Borgers TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprint Point Championship With Third Win. Jim Conroy Stellar In AllStar Slingshots. Fred Bitner and Larry Hoagland decided to do something different this year when they made Borgers Speedway their home. With plenty of dirt experience but no asphalt experience the transition was frustrating. While the early season frustration mounted one thing was certain Larry and Fred were no quitters. After playing catch up week after week things began to gel with Larry winning his first feature August 2 and backing it up with another win a week later. Larry and Fred’s hard work and determination paid off tonight with win number three and clinching the 2014 Borgers Speedway Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprint Point Championship. As Fred Bitner was all smiles from ear to ear he was thinking about the hugh Borgers Speedway owner’s trophy that will be presented to him at the awards banquet. Fred laughed, “ I don’t even have a place big enough to put that award but I will build something.” Hoagland took the lead on lap two from early leader Kurt Bettler and led the rest of the race. Bettler and Austin Fehr battled for second with Bettler coming out on top. Jordan Tittle finished fourth. Hoagland had the fast lap of the night with a 9.813. His wife Tina won a Slingshot Powder Puff and his daughter Amanda won two weeks ago and now it was Jim conroy’s turn to win in AllStar Slingshots. It was Jim Conroy, Johnny Bush, and Tom Hennessy to turn one but coming across the start finish line to complete lap one a massive crash took place bringing out the red flag. As the race restarted it was Conroy in the lead and by lap two Hennessy and Chris Kurtz fell in behind Conroy for the top three spots. Kyle Herve took over fourth spot but it was to be short lived as Taylor Eccles and Alan Hauptman took over fourth and fifth on lap seven. As the laps wound down Eccles closed the gap on the three leaders making it a four car battle for the lead. With four laps to go Kurtz made the move on Hennessy for second followed by Eccles. Conroy took the win followed by Kurtz, Eccles, Hennessy, and Hauptman. Eccles had the fast lap of the night with a 12.131. The top three Slingshots were teched for oil, fuel, and flywheels with all passing. Taylor Eccles has the Slingshot point championship locked up with Ryan Lacoe a likely second but after that it gets very interesting. Jim Conroy is a likely third and while Johnny Bush is currently fourth Mark Sensenig, Alan Hauptman, James Moyer Mike Moyer, Eddie Reeder, and Ken Reeder all are in striking distance of fifth spot. The next two weeks will tell the tale. Joey Costello won Junior Slingshots. Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints… Larry Hoagland, Kurt Bettler, Austin Fehr, Jordan Tittle.
