Borgess Health Hosts MLK Celebration KALAMAZOO, MI – The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, sponsored jointly by Borgess Health and Bronson Healthcare Group, will be held Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, inside the Lawrence Education Center Auditorium at Borgess Medical Center. “Living the Dream” is the focus of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, which begins with refreshments at 11 a.m., and the program which starts at 11:45 a.m. James L. Liggins, Jr., associate attorney with the Kalamazoo law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C., is the keynote speaker. Liggins serves on various non-profit boards and committees in the Kalamazoo area, including the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region, the Douglas Community Association, and the Greg Jennings Foundation. He is also the founder and past president of the Judge Charles A. Pratt Bar Association, the first minority bar association in Kalamazoo. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will feature pastoral reflection from Borgess Spiritual Care and the Bronson Pastoral Education Group. There will also be welcome remarks from Linda A. Root, vice president, Mission Integration, Borgess Health, and Frank Sardone, president and CEO, Bronson Healthcare Group. Entertainment during the celebration will include performances from youth singer Karla Grays, Rosalind Lee-El, clinical nurse educator, Borgess Health, and the Borgess Health Resounding Spirit Choir.
