Boring even myself, I offer the cat status update. Target: Fine. Sturdy. Sweet. The fact that this bug isnt plaguing every single one of my cats is actually a relief. She also seems to be ministering to her pals, sleeping nearby and watching them eat. This cat has the purest, kindest soul of any living creature I have ever met. Is it weird to want to be more like your cat? She is patient, gracious, loyal, resilient, and calm. Inga: remains mostly herself. Eats. Played with a toy for 15 seconds. Drinks water. However, now she has started squinting one eye shut and when I pull up the lid I see a bloodshot orb like shes been smoking weed in the park. She did gamely eat the L-Lysine chew I brought home from the nice pet store. Hoping to get two of those in her every day. Fitzy: two-a-day steam sessions in the bathroom seem to help a bit. After each one, I can usually coax him to eat a bite or two. He is still being force fed. He will not eat the Lysine chews. He is moving slowly, meowing silently, and full of rattling congestion. For some reason, though, I have the kind of naive faith in him that a little girl has in her dad: Fitzy is big and strong and wouldnt die on me. Right? The vet says Toby can come out of kitten solitary confinement tomorrow and that it is unlikely he will have oppositional defiant disorder as a result of this. I hope that letting him out doesnt nudge us into a backslide. I continue to appreciate your kind words, your ideas, and especially your tales of similar experiences that resolved well. Hey! The good news is my mom will be here Monday night to help out ... With my wrist fusion and tendon repair that is taking place on Tuesday. So. Stress. Bright side? My mom, duh, and the fact that at least I will be home to look after the cats for several weeks.
