Born OK The first time asked me the following question: David Salako what do you suppose the dog is trying to do? My response was as follows: Born OK The first time; Thank you for sharing the video. My answer to your question is as follows: It is possible that dog has been conditioned to do that. If so, then the dog is simply reacting to the stimuli of its conditioning. Or, it is possible that the Dog is simply splashing water on the fish. I know that you believe that the dog is trying to save the fish. But since we cannot know the motivation of its action, then it is an assumption to assume that the dog is trying to save the fish because of its compassion. Also the two options I proposed are very plausible. The fact is, I love the video because it reveals the way we perceive things, our expectations, and emotional conditioning. This is why when we first watch the video we are quick to perceive what the dog is doing as an act that pertains to trying to save the fish. But that is not so. The only thing we can objectively prove is that the dog is pouring water on the fish. But WHY is it doing that? Well that depends on our interpretation of the fact. The fact is we cannot prove the dogs action has a telos or purpose because we cannot prove that the dog has intent. Even if it does (assuming) we cannot prove (objectively) what it is. Therefore it is an assumption to say that the Dog is trying to save the fish. For it is possible that the Dogs action is purposeless. Really, brilliant Born, for the video reveals more about us, than the dog. Have you ever looked at a cloud that looked like an object? Did you know that all there is is a cloud? And that, the object we see is created by the way we perceive the cloud? Yes, the way we perceive things can create an appearance of reality. Thus, we have to learn to make a distinction between appearance and reality. The only way we can do this is by perceiving with our minds and not with our eyes. For our thinking can cause our perception to be distorted.
