Born on this date in 1966, Patrick Mameli of PESTILENCE. One of the best of the technical thrash bands of the late 80s /early 90s, they were often on tour with bands like BELIEVER, CYNIC and ATHIEST and were known for the riffical prowess and jazz fusion. Over time, they veered a bit from the early death days and became more melodic and experimental but remained heavy as hell. They disbanded in 1994, but have since reunited a few times before going on permanent hold. Give a listen and yes, I made up the word riffical. --John
