Born on this day in 1914, the terrific Broadway and Hollywood - TopicsExpress

Born on this day in 1914, the terrific Broadway and Hollywood star, Tyrone Power. He mostly did dramas and action movies - The Mark of Zorro, with Eugene Pallette and Linda Darnell is my favorite - but he also did great comedy when given the chance. And his service in World War II was solid; he earned Bronze Stars as a Marine in the Pacific theater between 1942 and 1945, and he remained in the Reserves after the war. Sadly, he died too young, at 44, of a heart attack, while filming a dueling scene with George Sanders. He leaves behind a solid body of work - Witness for the Prosecution, Marie Antoinette, The Black Swan, A Yank in the RAF - but he didnt get enough chances to film comedies. His best work was on the stage; Broadway had the good sense to have him do comic plays, like Mister Roberts. A real pro and a solid patriot... and an inspiration to young actors. imdb/media/rm3801257984/nm0000061?ref_=nmmi_mi_all_pbl_24
