Borno state Governor,Mr Kashim Shetima is not happy with his aides over their claims on social media that the State Government was responsible for the reconnection of Maiduguri to national grid. The Governor is bitter that the false claims of such aides is pitching him againist the Minister of State Power ,Mohammed Wakil as well as the Federal Government whose agencies reconnected the vandalised power lines,insider sources within the Government House in Maiduguri has confided in our correspondent. Some aides of the Governor had insisted that it was the efforts of the state Government that led to the restoration of light to Maiduguri. The Federal Government has however described the claim as false and unfounded. The zonal office of the Transmissin Company of Nigeria also denounced the claim ,affirming that the reconnection was done by the company after due facilitation by the minister and the Federal Ministry of Power. Moonreports correspondent was told that the Governor called some of his aides to his office during the week and lambasted them for lying openly on an issue that is so clear to the public. The Governor was quoted as telling his aides that Hon Wakil ,the minister whom he called his friends was the one who mobilised federal agencies including the military to ensure the reconnection. ” Stop embarrassing me. Stop creating problem for me with other leaders in the state. The Federal Government reconnected the capital and the minister used his good office to make it possible”, the Governor was quoted as saying. An angry Shetima was reported to have acknowleged that the committee he set up cannot claim the crédit as the minister was the one who wrote several letters to the military authorities as well issued directives to the Transmission Company to act on the vandalised line. Our correspondent was told that the Governor reminded his aides of what he said when the minister recently visited Maidugiri : ” I told you all that Wakil is a good man. I told you we grow up together and that of all ministers Borno has had ,he is the only one that is directly assisting the state. Were you people not listening that day. ” I stated what the minister is doing on the power situation . I even warned againist rumper mongering . Why should we not accept that the minister has delivered on his promise to reconnect Maiduguri to the national grid?”, the Governor was quoted as saying. One of the aides who was present at the emergency parley told Moonreports that the Governor was visibly angry . According to him,” Excellency said we are sabotaging his efforts to maintain cordial relationship with the Federal Hovernment and the minister.
