Borrowed: Simple repentance. Sample repentance Sunday school teacher asked a class what the word repentance means. a little boy put up his hand and said, it is being sorry for your sins. a little girl also raised her hand and said, it is being SORRY ENOUGH TO QUIT. A schoolgirl was saved and someone asked her, what were you before? she said a sinner. then she was asked, what are you now? she answered a sinner. they asked whats the difference? she answered, I was a sinner running after sins but now Im a sinner running from sins. This little story illustrates plainly that what is being touted by many as biblical repentance is in truth little more than salvation based on human effort. i.e. SALVATION BY WORKS. Repentance is not just being sorry for your sins, it is being sorry enough to quit. Repent=quit sinning. Crystal clear. I have said all along that what these folks are advocating is that one must quit sinning (to be consistent that would require becoming sinless before salvation could be yours) in order to be saved. And the real paradox is that those who advocate this do not actually believe in salvation by works. Ask them. They will swear upon a stack of Bibles that they do not believe salvation comes as a result of works. Nor are they lying. But somehow, they have managed to rationalize the advocacy or a works/faith system of salvation which RUNS DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO WHAT THEY THEMSELVES BELIEVE based on the scriptures. It does however, exhibit that these folks have little to no concept of the scope of depravity in man. Nor do they comprehend just how helpless they themselves are when it comes to their own part in salvation, which is to receive the free gift provided and offered by Jesus Christ. Not only can they do more, God will not accept more from them.
