Bosco is a 10 year old Border Collie from Adelaide who was diagnosed with a nasal carcinoma that had started causing nasal bleeding episodes, just like Mickey-Moo, the Westie, in our previous post. You may think that nasal tumours like this are very common in dogs, but they actually only account for about 2% of all the different types of tumours that dogs can get! One of the main reasons why you’ll see us frequently posting about dogs with nasal tumours getting radiation therapy is that this is the best treatment option for this tumour, so Dr Elias and the BVSC Radiation Therapy Team end up treating and caring for many of these patients. Bosco stayed at BVSC for about 4 weeks to complete the 18 dose radiation protocol, and he has been back home with his family for about 3 weeks now. Everyone a BVSC quickly fell in love with Bosco and his gentle nature. You can see in one of the pictures how the skin reaction on his face has healed very nicely, only leaving a bald patch of skin for now until the hair is expected to start regrowing in the next 2-3 months. Bosco’s treatments went extremely well here and the nasal bleeding episodes completely stopped thanks to the radiation!
