Boston Update- Monday: Busy morning in rounds and the plan for the week! All amazing news! The respiratory plan has changed slightly. His NP felt strong that because Boston has been intubated so long and that he is sensitive to change... That it would make more sense to wean down his pressure support once more and give him a few days of adjusting to that. Then towards the mid-end of the week start doing breathing trials if he seems to tolerate well. They want both Garrett Reed and I to be able to be there and that will also give us a chance to get everyone here well and not chance bringing anything to him! So possible extubating is planned for Saturday. Your precious prayers are being heard friends. Thank you! Its all Gods will and I have to trust in it. Boston is peeing! He had a really nice couple of diapers overnight and once this am. So they will get with the renal team today to see about decreasing the dialysis concentration to allow his kidneys to work more!!! Next mission- feeds: he has been tolerating full feeds for 2 weeks. Plan once hes extubated would be to get speech involved and work on nursing/bottle feeds. So this week they will reduce the amount of volume in the breast milk and increase with more calories. Begin to wean from continuous feeds and start doing normal feeds. Feed through tube for 30 min or so and then wait a normal 3 hours before his next feed! Last plan- a routine MRI. He has to have one before we leave the hospital as standard procedure with all hes been through so theyd like to do that this week while hes intubated to keep from having to sedate him. Another reason for holding off on extubating at the beginning of the week. My heart is so full of happiness!!!!! 2015 is bound to be a beautiful year! I cant think of a better way to start the year out!!! Thanks for the prayers and please continue!! We are so close! What a journey!
