Both of the November eagles are doing well. These two came in the week of Thanksgiving. The mature eagle appeared to have been grazed by a bullet, splitting the back of his wing. Losing the blood supply was our greatest fear for this bird, but it has healed and the wing survived. The second one came in two days later riddled with pellets from a shotgun blast. Two breaks in the same wing bone (ulna) were a tremendous challenge but with a collaborative surgical effort between the Tulsa Zoo and OSU, this eagle is a few weeks away from initial flight conditioning. Both eagles are currently in care at the Tulsa Zoo where they are receiving first class medical treatment. We will be assisting with their recovery and hopefully someday, their release.
