Bournemouth Council, why do you sanction events in the middle of the square that result in local businesses suffering loss of revenues? The latest food festival is a classic example. Why dont you erect a large stage and put on free music, dance etc, which will drive footfall, and then ensure people purchase food, drink and other goods from local businesses, businesses that pay extortionate rents and council rates 365 days a year to be there. They should be doing everything they can to drive money through the tills of local traders. Footfall is already down because parking is scarce and expensive in the town centre. Castlepoint shopping centre is free to park and has ripped a large percentage of the towns footfall from under its feet. They really are a clueless bunch of idiots. Dont get me started on the Christmas market. I would become a councillor and sort this mess out, but Id rather jump off Bournemouth Pier with a pair of concrete boots on than attempt working with those red tape laden mugs. Anyway, back to work.
