Bowls NZ Announce New Selector Coaches Kerry Clark, the CEO of Bowls New Zealand, has today announced a new National selection and coaching panel. Appointed to the end of 2016 the Bowls New Zealand Board has confirmed the panel as being led by Dave Edwards the National Coach and consisting of new appointments Sharon Sims MNZM, and Peter Belliss MBE, with the fourth member being returning coach/ selector, Raelene Peters. Sharon Sims and Peter Belliss bring a wealth of international experience to the role with them both being multi title winners at World Championship level. Sims also won a Commonwealth Games Gold medal in the pairs at the 2002 Manchester Games. As the National Coach Dave Edwards said, “firstly I would like to acknowledge the work done by Terry Scott who was involved up to the Glasgow games and whose contribution to our High Performance programme was of immense value and greatly appreciated by myself and all the players. We are fortunate to have good continuity with Raelene Peters remaining on the panel and having Peter Belliss step into a more comprehensive role is fantastic. Adding to this, and the real icing on the cake, we gain the services of Sharon Sims. With Sharon and Peter we have two people who have “been there and done that” as players on the international stage. Both Sharon and Peter also have a real passion for coaching and having these three quality people on board is extremely pleasing”. The appointment period includes a number of major international events culminating in the World Championships to be held in Christchurch in November 2016. Kerry Clark added that “with the World Champs on our home greens in 2016 expectations of the total team are very high. We strongly believe we have appointed a selection and coaching panel that will deliver our players in the best possible form to ensure we bring multi gold medal results back to New Zealand.” The appointments are effective from 1 December 2014.
