Bowls Report Last Sunday July 20 the annual Hospital Auxiliary Charity Day was held with 42 bowlers in attendance and $1,520.00 raised for the worthy cause. Winners were Barry Shephard, Pat Sheils and Chris Gleeson (24 +29) and runners up Lyn Wedesweiler, Margaret Hann and Caryn Saunders with (23 +18). The Vintage Car Club also turned up in their cars and a good time was had by all. Special thanks must go to the ladies from the Hospital Auxiliary for the beautiful salads and cakes and the lady bowlers for making cakes and slices. Also thanks to Craddocks Butchery for the sausages and Neville Ryan and Graham Anderson for cooking the BBQ. Saturday July 19 Dave Dewar represented the Club and North West District in the Zone 3 State Reserve Singles at Quirindi, however he was defeated in the first round of the knockout event. The Narrabri Clubs Triples events were the order of the day on Saturday July 19 with the following results. Major Triples; Larry Scott, Paul Crutcher and Kevin Baguley defeated Jarrod Hetherington, Frank Elder and Cameron Yates 32-15. Kevin Baker, Bruce Cowan and Pat Mundy defeated Larry Scott, Paul Crutcher and Kevin Baguley 31-20. Minor Triples; Les Kelly, Trevor Dean and Len Ryan defeated Cecil Willis, Ian MacMillan and Chris McColley 21-18. Sunday July 20 championship results were; Major Fours - Kevin Baker, Trevor Dean, Bruce Cowan and Cameron Yates defeated Kevin Hulbert, Chris McColley, Larrie Scott and Kevin Baguley 23-13. Neville Ryan, Laurie Gilbert, Adrian Samuelsson and Graham Spence defeated Paul Crutcher, Craig Gleeson, Mark Crutcher and Rodney Kirk 23-13. Mixed Pairs – Basil Sandy and Debbie Gleeson defeated Eva Sadler and Len Ryan 21-14. The Idle Rich hit the greens on Thursday July 17 with Percy Stubbs, John Melbourne and Terry Wilson defeating Archie Laird, Max Pringle and Frank Wedesweiler 18-11. Bruce Tomlinson and Frank Elder defeated Fred Jackson and Basil Sandy 18-14. Clive Norrie and Jeff Cloake drew with Ian Bailey and Barry Shephard 19 all.
