Boy, talk about a lesson learned. I needed to get a heftier truck than the one I had, and I figured I just needed to pick up an ugly truck at a low price. Found a well-used diesel F-250 for $4,300. Older truck with lots of miles on it, but I figured I could put another few thousand into repairs and have something workable. As of today, it has cost $6,500 in repairs. Turns out that I dont know what an engine sounds like when its missing, and I trusted the dealer when he said that they had fixed everything that was important. Plus, the minor matter of its grinding going into second gear isnt minor at all. I have to remember that we cant bat 1.000 when it comes to cars. Ive been really fortunate in the vehicles Ive purchased till now. I have to just take it in stride, tell myself that Im contributing to the local economy (Ive been lucky to find reliable service people to fix everything), and look forward to having a truck that really will get the job done once its out of the garage. Today, though, Im in tears of anger and frustration. I hope the dealer gets hit by lightning or slips on a banana peel.
