Bozhidar Shopov0 Violin, Viola Bozhidar Shopov was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. At the age of four, he began his violin studies at a special school for gifted children. He received his first competition prize at the age of nine. After finishing this twelve-year course of studies, he pursued further musical studies at the Conservatory of Plovdiv. His most influential teacher-mentor is Vesselin Paraschkevov, former Concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic. His professional career began in 1997 in the Plovdiv Symphony. Since then, he has played in the Plovdiv Opera, Vienna Valzer Orchestra, Puerto Rico Philharmonic, Monterrey Symphony Orchestra (Mexico), Southwest Minnesota Symphony Orchestra (as Concertmaster), South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, Sioux City Symphony Orchestra (first as Principal Viola, and now as Concertmaster), Omaha Chamber Orchestra, and Omaha Symphony. His work in these orchestras has included tours to over 25 countries, including Germany, Austria, Japan, and China. He has worked with high-caliber artists such as Jose Carreras and Plácido Domingo. Throughout his 16 years in the profession, he has also participated in many chamber ensembles including being a member of the Sioux City Symphony String Quartet.
