Brabin Leaves Southport. Gary Brabin has resigned as manager of Vanarama Conference club Southport. Brabin has joined Barclays Premier League giants Everton to be part of the coaching set up at Goodison up to under-21 level. Southport Football Club would not stand in the way of Brabin when he informed chairman Charlie Clapham on Monday afternoon he had been head hunted to be part of Evertons coaching regime. Paul Carden takes immediate charge at the Merseyrail Community Stadium with an assistant to be announced shortly. Clapham said: “We gave Gary a managers` post after a couple of years out of the game. It is a complement to both Gary and Southport FC that Everton want our manager for such a prestigious role. Its Garys lifelong ambition to be part of Everton Football Club and sometimes in life things happen when you are not expecting them to. I would not want to stop Gary achieving his ambition and genuinely wish him all the best. “Gary made an immediate impact here and I want to thank him for that and our FA Cup run culminating at Derby County. Paul Carden now has the task of building on Garys foundations over the last four months and getting us to a safe position as quickly as possible.”
