Brace yourself Arsenal fans! Fabregas to Chelsea looks ON It will be a difficult thing for Arsenal fans to take, if it happens, but the media are growing ever more sure that our former captain Cesc Fabregas is leaving his La Liga club Barcelona, and that his next club is going to be our London rivals Chelsea. There is a good reason for the rumour to be growing today, as Metro reports that it is the ta;k of Spain, after Fabregas’ Barcelona team mate Gerard Pique and his national manager Vicente Del Bosque were caught on camera and microphone discussing the situation as they sat down for a pre World Cup press conference. The defender apparently said, “He already told me it’s done. He is leaving for 33million euros.” And the news in Spain is that it is Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea who are set to sign the midfielder as a replacement for Frank Lampard, which does seem to make sense. So is that it Gooners? Maybe, but there are reasons for us to hope that the deal is not done. There are suggestions that Pique was having us on, fully aware that his words would be picked up. Del Bosque even says that he is going to drive the Barca president mad. Pique went on about how Fabregas is not valued enough by the club, so maybe his mate was just highlighting this and giving Barca a bit of a scare. Another reason for hope is that Cesc and Mourinho do not get on. The player publicly taunted the Portuguese manager while he was in charge of Real Madrid, and Mourinho appeared to try to kick Fabregas in the head during the nasty spat when Jose put his finger in Tito Vilanova’s eye. Finally, we know that Arsenal have the chance to match any transfer fee that has been agreed and bring Cesc home. So even though Arsene Wenger is not targeting Fabregas, he could still step in to stop him going to Chelsea. Don’t panic Gooners, not yet anyway!!
