Brand thinks Im a dork for being upset about this. And the hivemind encouraged me not to overreact to that school letter. Anyway...this is the response I emailed to the principal. -------- Ms. Principal, I am in receipt of your letter dated 17 November 2014 which says that Arwen has missed 6 days in the quarter. However, as of her report card, only 4 days are listed as being absent. Arwen takes the bus, so clearly she is arriving. And I am not aware of other days that she has been absent outside of 4 sick days. These 4 days were split up into 2 separate instances, so at no point has she been absent for more than 4 days concurrently. Nor has she been absent 6 days total, according to my records. Also, Ms Thang, her teacher was notified in writing [once via email and once by signed note (that was also mentioned to her by email)] that Arwen was absent due to fever and upset stomach. It was my understanding that the standing rule of the county schools is that a child must be fever free for 24 hours before attending. Has that rule changed? Im sensing that there is either a discrepancy with her attendance record or that we might need to meet in person to attempt and sort this all out. Thank you for your attention to this matter, ~ Me
