Brave Walsall man diagnosed with terminal brain tumour dies one day before predicted death date. A BRAVE Walsall man who was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour passed away the day before he predicted he would die, his devastated family has revealed. Chris Thomson was diagnosed with the inoperable tumour in September last year – 19 years after he had battled his first tumour at the age of nine. Earlier this year, the 29-year-old was told he had just weeks left to live – and marked December 1, 2014 as his predicted “death date.” But Chris – who launched a memorial fund that has so far raised more than £18,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity – sadly passed away at 4am on Sunday, November 30, after he contracted pneumonia. He died in the arms of his mother, Deb Thomson, who along with her husband, David, have this week paid an emotional tribute to their son. “Chris was the perfect son, was never any trouble and troubled no one,” said the couple, of Bernard Street. “He was loving, thoughtful, caring, friendly, helpful and generous to a fault, with a great sense of humour and he had many close loyal friends. “We are extremely proud of our inspirational son who, even to the end of his life, thought about others. “He will leave a very large gap in our lives and in everyone’s who ever knew him. He was and still is a very special son and a very special man. “We are heartbroken that at 29 he had to leave this world far too soon, with his whole life to live.” Chris, who lived in Cedarwood Court, Highgate, had been told by medics at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in late September that he had roughly between eight and ten weeks left to live.
