Brave boys recover stolen phone Three young boys became victims of an attempted robbery in the Lagoon area on Tuesday afternoon when they were approached by three older boys who demanded money from them. One of the boys said that the culprits stopped them while they were cycling in the park along Paul Vincent Street and demanded money. One of the boys gave them N$3, hoping that they would leave. The suspects then approached one of the boys and searched through his pockets. While doing this, they asked the boy to tell them what the time was on his mobile phone. They insisted on looking at the time themselves and in the process, one of the older boys grabbed the cell phone and ran away. The boy who shared his ordeal with the newspaper said they gave chase, caught up with the thief and tackled him. He fell down and the brave boy punched the thief in the stomach. The older boy broke free and ran away. He was narrowly missed by a car and this prompted him to stop and hand back the phone, before continuing to flee. The young boys tried to get the attention of passers-by but they were simply ignored and no one came to their rescue. While the school children are on holiday, parents are advised to discourage their children from playing in places that expose them to similar dangers and even risk losing their lives.
