Braved the insane crowds at the old port fest to take my step daughter and her friend to see the latest Boy singer teenage girl heartthrob wannabe. Got there in time to catch the tail end of singer Sara Skinners set. While not my kinda music, I was impressed by her vocal chops. But what impressed me even more was her positive, attentive, open and friendly attitude towards her fans after her performance. She patiently engaged with everyone waiting to see and talk with her, posed for photos and had a smile and a kind word for each one in turn. She obviously cares a great deal for her fans, certainly more so than the to remain nameless "teen idol" we were there to see, who seemed only interested in complaining about his lack of sleep. Sara Skinner is a true positive role model, a somewhat rare thing to see in her generation. Just wanted to say thanks and give her the recognition she deserves. Oh yeah, she can sing really well too!
