Bravo D.G.P! The first and foremost task of a government is to maintain peace, law and order. In this respect the role of police is paramount. When the police acted recklessly and inhumanely the relation between Police and Public becomes sour, a bad test for the Police is left. Efficient and tough Police are required for the control of crimes. But you cannot be too tough as to violate the liberty and honour of the people, neither you cannot be too weak to allow the liberty and the honour of the people violated. It is people’s government. The DGP’s role in this regard is laudable as his modus operandi is somewhat different from his predecessors. Some stringent actions taken recently against errant policeman have smarted the sense of the people. When policeman act in excess people feel aghast, consider them same as criminals. It does not mean that the policeman should remain passive and complacent. You must be soft but active and smart ready to sting like a bee when the situation demands. The strategy of the new DGP is both soft and tough, hermaphrodite and versatile, strikes a balance between sweetness and harshness. Indeed a good beginning, well begun is half done. On the other hand law and order improves considerably. Thumbs up!
