Breach babies: a few years back I was ask if I could help a patient with a breach baby. She came for treatment. I assess her lovely bump... But I quickly felt that Alice was not prepared to turn for a good reason the cord felt too short. I told Mum and Dad and they both decided to cancel their following week appointment to have her turned by the medics. Alice was born by C-section and the cord was a lot shorter and a lot thicker than normal so it could have damage the placenta. From that case onward our osteopaths at the clinic are happy to help the belly to get bigger and more relax, to prepare your skin for c section, to allow baby to turn if baby want or can. But we refuse to manually turn them ourselves…. If you really want to try to turn your baby we now recommend Helen Lewis (reflexologist) and Julie Searle (Acupuncturist) as they are very successful and never put the baby in danger by direct technique.
