Bread And Wine By Pastor Simeon Afolabi POWER OF ASSOCIATION-5 “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come” Luke 10:1 In recent past a number of entries have been devoted to considering the power of association. Today we turn our focus to the Master as we glean some lessons on this important subject. The first thing we notice about Jesus is the fact that He was intentional with relationship. This can be clearly seen in this account: “And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him” (Mark 3:13). Jesus did not permit people to simply stroll into his life at will. He called those whom He wanted. Knowing the power that flows from association, everyone must be certain that those who come into their lives are actually those that are required. There is another lesson we can take home from Jesus; and it is the fact that there was a kind of segmentation (not discrimination) of the people that were in His life. Our lead Scripture talks of other seventy also; that’s in addition to the twelve He earlier sent out on a mission. Overall, there was this pattern in the kinds of people in His life. Firstly, there were the multitudes; secondly, there were the seventy; thirdly, there were the 12; fourthly, there were the three; and fiftly, there was the one disciple who got so close as to lean on His chest at table. What is the lesson from this segmentation? Simply put, not everybody has equal weight and importance in the fulfillment of your destiny. You will do well if you give the greater attention to people whose contribution to your destiny is heavier.
