Breakfast key to reducing heart attack risk, new study finds Breakfast might just be the most important meal — for everything from losing weight to increasing energy on the job and in the classroom — as your mother, doctor, and everybody else has probably told you again and again. Well, not only were they right but, according to NPR’s website, The Salt, new research shows that eating a healthy breakfast helps reduce the risk of heart attack. The new study, published in the journal Circulation, found that men who routinely skipped breakfast had a 27% higher risk of having a heart attack or dying from coronary heart disease compared to men who ate breakfast. Leah Cahill, a research fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health, who was involved in the study, warns that by skipping breakfast you can put a strain on the body, adding that prolonged fasting in the morning can lead to insulin sensitivity, which can lead to Type-2 diabetes and to high blood pressure, which over time can lead to heart disease. And that reminds us of a bit of ancient wisdom that says: “If you love someone, give him your breakfast, share your lunch, and steal his dinner.” Or as Cahill puts it: “Don’t skip breakfast.” kingsaca.sbcteenchallenge/
