Breaking Barriers Technique Isnt Subjective In the past few - TopicsExpress

Breaking Barriers Technique Isnt Subjective In the past few weeks Ive been thinking about why technique in general is becoming a bigger challenge in the dance community. Theres so much hype on tricks and movement that technique seems to be a thing of the past. If ART is all about vision and expression, then TECHNIQUE is the foundation and integrity that makes those visions come to life. Yet, technique over the years has been shoved in the corner, like the leper in the room. Technique is needed to support the vision of any choreographer. Technique, when properly used can push the limits of whats possible. Technique is built on facts. Its clean, to the point, and effective. When dancers wonder why they cant improve with their dancing, they eventually fall in the trap of believing that what they have is all they can do. Technique and the ability to teach it at its finest changes that myth. We as teachers should hold ourselves with a standard of belief that information still matters. If teachers, in general get trapped in the world of choreography and dismiss technique then one day...teachers wont be needed. Cherish what we possess and respect the foundation in which it began. The future of dance is brilliant!!! Lets keep it that way.
